Overview

Rope Sort is a 3D sorting puzzle about untangling colored ropes wound around vertical spools. Each spool carries a stack of rope coils in mixed colors, and the job is to shift coils between spools until every spool holds one single color. The game opens on a two-spool warm-up and grows into boards of five spools or more, all drawn as soft-lit 3D rope on a clean grey stage.

Objective and input

How to Play

Tap a spool to lift the top coil of rope from it - the base glows to confirm the pick - then tap a second spool to set the coil down. A move only lands when the target spool is empty, or when its top coil is the same color and the spool still has room; tapping a full or mismatched spool simply cancels the selection. Once every spool holds a single color, the level is complete and the Next button brings in a busier board. Early levels mix three colors across five spools and leave empty spools as working space. A curved-arrow button in the top bar undoes moves, with its remaining uses shown on a small counter.

Desktop Controls

The site framework maps mouse input to the same actions: click a spool to lift its top coil, click a destination spool to place it, and click the undo or speaker buttons in the top bar.

Mobile Controls

Tap a spool to pick up its top rope coil; the base glows while it is selected.

Tap an empty spool, or one whose top coil matches in color, to place the rope there.

Tap the speaker button to toggle sound, and the curved-arrow button to undo a move while uses remain.

What stands out

Features

01

3D rope-and-spool puzzles

Coils of rope wind around white spools with soft shadows and a lift-and-glow selection, rendered as dimensional 3D objects rather than flat tubes.

02

Color-match stacking rules

A coil only moves onto an empty spool or onto a matching color with room left, so every transfer asks for a quick check of tops and space.

03

Boards that grow

The two-spool opener teaches the tap-lift, tap-place move, then later levels stack three colors across five or more spools with empty ones as buffer space.

04

Counted undos

The undo button carries a small counter showing how many take-backs remain, and level progress carries over between visits.

Gameplay Tips

  1. 1

Empty spools are your working space - park a coil there to uncover the color buried underneath it.

  2. 2

Check a target spool's top color and remaining room before you tap; a full or mismatched spool just cancels your pick.

  3. 3

Finish one color at a time: a completed single-color spool is out of the way for the rest of the level.
